LOCAL Musician Portraits

I had the honor of photographing two very talented musicians in one week!

Erin Sutherland is not only the coolest neighbor ever, she is also one of the gorgeous voices of the Stolen Sweets. She has a serious boot collection.

I really enjoyed photographing beautiful Ines Voglar & listening to her play violin during the shoot.

For the last 5 years I have worked with Absolute Images Fine Photography & the Oregon Symphony is one of our clients.

Made for family visitors Craig + Matt and our special guest, Brianna.

Vegan Caramelized Apple Spiced Cupcakes with old-fashioned Penuche "fudge" frosting.
Prepared for a dinner at Nate & Annette's. It was awesome meeting her youngest sister, Ellen.

Project :: Studio Bathroom

We armored the walls + floor in 2" white tiles, painted the lightest shade of blue & modernized the sink area.

fun with twigs

I was riding my bike to work earlier this week when I saw them on the curb ... yard debris bags full of beautiful deep plum-brown twigs freshly pruned from a fruit tree. Later that evening, (and many thief jokes later, thanks Ryan + Matt - I think Erin even chimed in...) I drove the Eurovan to Irvington & loaded up two bags - though tempted to re-purpose them all. I thoroughly enjoyed clipping and organizing my new sticks the next lovely, sunny February afternoon. I arranged them in 3 different size square glass vases, which were used at our wedding celebration. I was going to place the largest vase of tall branches in our new studio - but Ryan liked it so much we have it in our living room.

three hour Galette

Our friend's Mark & Brenda invited us over for a housewarming dinner last night. They asked us to bring dessert and I took this task very seriously. Inspired by Deborah Madison, I created a giant Galette filled with apples, toasted pine nuts, candied lemons, golden raisins & a healthy splash of Kihafa. At the last minute I decided it deserved a sauce so I blended yogurt with the remaining lemony sugar reduction.

Everyone asked how I candied the lemons ~ just bring one cup of sugar & one cup of water to a boil, add THIN slices of 2 lemons, simmer for 25 minutes & let cool.

Mom, I made the crust by hand & Ryan said it was the best part :)

a card for my Valentine

This photo was taken in the photobooth at Alissa & Caleb's wedding last fall. Inside there is a note & a Rumi poem typed on rice paper. I love white, metals & the typewriter these days.
